10 Foods That Will Help Relieve Stress

Many times stress and food go hand in hand. You can eat certain things during the day that can actually make you feel more anxious instead of relaxed.

However, there are many foods that can help you shake off your stressed out feelings.

1. Milk

Milk is a great source of protein, B vitamins, and calcium. It can help you to promote healthy bones and teeth.

The calcium in milk is known to have a calming effect, along with the fact that B vitamins in the milk balance out the nervous system.

The protein in this beverage keeps blood sugar at healthy levels.

2. Almonds

They are great in many ways for relieving your anxiety.

They provide vitamins E, B2 and the minerals zinc and magnesium.

Most of the fat in almonds is unsaturated fat.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant and it fights free radicals that can cause your body to feel more stressed.

3. Blueberries

They offer your body vitamin C plus other nutrients.

Since vitamin C is an antioxidant, blueberries help to stop the action of free radicals that can cause damage to your body as well as bring on anxiety.

These berries also provide your body a high degree of fiber, which keeps blood sugar regulated.

4. Tuna

This fish is an ideal source of low-fat protein. It is also high in vitamins B12 and B6, which combat stress.

5. Turkey

Turkey offers the body L-Tryptophan an amino acid. This stimulates to the body's production of serotonin.

Serotonin naturally lifts the mood and removes anxious feelings. L-Tryptophan is said to cause a calming effect for this reason. 

6. Dark Chocolate

It boosts levels of endorphins in the brain. These are natural mood lifters.

Dark chocolate increases the level serotonin in the brain, which is one of the more potent endorphins as far as providing mood-lifting benefits.

7. Water

Along with food, we must add water to this list.

Your body needs water to enable all your cells to function correctly. When the body does not have enough water, it is less capable of handling stressful situations.

8. Apricots

As with any high-sugar fruit, do not eat any more than the recommended servings of fruit a day.

9. Broccoli

It provides your body with folic acid and B vitamins. Both are effective in reducing anxiety and the effects from it.
