Simple Baked Whole Fish Recipe

Prep Time:  50 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 2- 3 servings



2 pounds whole fish (with or without head)

2 slices celery

2 slices onions

2 slices lemon

4 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons butter

Bacon strips

Onion salt

Salt and pepper


·       The amount of ingredients increases or decreases depending on the number serving targeted.



1.    Use cold, salted water to soak the fish for 30 minutes or less. Drain and dry gently.

2.    Preheat oven to 4000.

3.    Use lemon slices, onion, salt, celery, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and pepper to season the cavity of the fish.

4.    Close the fish. Place bacon strips all around the fish and on its top.

5.    Sprinkle with pepper, onion salt, pepper, salt and the remaining 2 tablespoon lemon juice.

6.    Cover with butter pats

7.    Bake for 30 minutes or less until the flesh becomes white and flakes apart with fork.

8.    Cut the fish in pieces and serve with lemon wedges.
